Kuwagata Kesai was a Ukiyoe artist in the middle of the Edo period. He was also known as Masami KITAO . He learned a wide variety of painting methods and was known for drawing a lot of light and witty cartoon-style comics. He published 'Choju Ryakuga-shiki (abbreviated style of painting of birds and animals)' 'personal sketch' 'Sansui Ryakuga-shiki' 'Shellfish sketch style' and 'Soka Ryakuga-shiki'. "sketch" and the bird's-eye view list were quoted by Hokusai KATSUSHIKA in "Hokusai Manga" "List of famous places of Tokaido".
